Digital Anxiety

Poster Design

Introduction

There’s been a significant increase in anxiety disorders in Millennials and Gen Z compared to previous generations. So much so that 1 in 3 teens have an anxiety disorder. The main factors to this increase is internet addiction, global reach, and mainly, social media.

Instead of just creating awareness of the problem, I wanted to provide resources for someone that has an anxiety disorder.

News from around the world at your fingertips.

What feels like a convienance to have access to global information, receiving notifications about news happening nationally as well as
internationally, can sometimes cloud our view of the world. It can appear more chaotic than it is, when in reality, crime has decreased in recent decades.

Our online persona is just a highlight reel.

Often we compare our life to what we see on social media, feeling bogged down by the digital façade that we see online. Social media can create a false picture of someone’s life, highlighting only the exciting and happy moments.

Content personalized for us can bind us.

Internet Addiction can also lead to anxiety, especially when overconsumed at a young age. The constant attachment to our screens contributes to a lack of sleep, an increase in blue-light exposure, reduced face-to-face interaction, that culminate to increase the prevalence of anxiety disorders in Millennials and Gen Z.
